Today I met with the star of our next film, scheduled for production in April, How Is One To Live? Personally it is one of the most rewarding experiences of being a director to spend an afternoon with an actor getting to know them and by proxy their character. It may seem an odd concept, but it was inspired by the book which I recommended below.
Anyhow, the next picture Zimbo Films will be producing is a dark comedy, a genre that I have never really dabbled in before. The narrative centers on a woman completing her master’s thesis in the field of film criticism and her relationship with her little sister. As of now, the film will also be following the narrative constructs of the “chamber drama”, with several illusions to The Bitter Tears Of Petra Von Kant, (which will only reinforce the issue of the main character’s thesis which is an analysis of Fassbinder’s Berlin Alexanderplatz). We will be attempting to equally distribute layers of subtext in both character development and the development of the filmic dialogue we endeavor to open with this film.
Expect to see this film at a festival sometime in late May or June, thank you.
